Rollin, Rollin, Rollin...

Pic of Us

JJ and I wanted to share an updated photo--

Jay survived his first teeth cleaning and wanted to show off his pearly whites! He has been to the dentist before but never stopped screaming long enough to let the dentist in his mouth...but this time, big cousin Jack went with him and they had their teeth cleaned together!

I finally got around to donating my hair--a whole 9 inches! Feels great to have it all gone, and now I look like every other 30-something mom w/ the Posh bob!

Just for fun ;)

Ok. So I have NO idea what I'm doing with JJ's hair. We decided to let it grow for the summer hoping that his baby curls would return but....it didn't happen. Now we just have a three year old with big, poofy hair! So, last night during his much needed bath, we had fun trying out different looks with his long locks :)
I wanted him to give me more of a "punk" face to match his mohawk, but I think JJ is just too cute and innocent for that!
hee, hee. I wish there was gel that could keep his hair like this everyday!
Pete Wentz and your flat iron, move over!

Our Mini Stay-cation

We had a great long weekend getaway!! I took the kids on Friday and went to the cottage--we had such fun "roughing it" and JJ loved being on vacation :) Sorry there aren't too many pictures--we were having too much fun to grab the camera!
Of course Kayley had to hit a milestone while we were there! This is her in mid-roll from back to front!
Now that she is semi-mobile, I think we are in trouble!
Saturday night, Kevin, Lisa and Emma came down to have a bon fire with us and make s'mores and real popcorn (not that microwave stuff we survive on all year!) Emma and JJ of course had a ball!  And Emma set a record for most popcorn eaten in a single sitting :)
JJ and Kayley passing the time when it was a little chilly in the morning by dancing! We had to bring Kayley's excersaucer--she's at the age where we can't carry her around all day and she doesn't want to be held either!

Bills Camp

JJ and Mike went to the Bills camp for the day and had a ball! They had lots of kids activities set up and Jay rode on a bus for the very first time!

Traitor

Just when I thought I was grooming the next great American democrat...
We were watching tv and Barrack Obama came on. I said "Hey, J! Marrack O'Mama is on tv!"
Thinking I was going to get a cute little response or at least a supportive 'Yay!!' I was shocked when my darling little future Kennedy said, "He dances like a little girl."
While my dreams of pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, and pro-everything-liberal went up in smoke before my eyes, I asked him three time to clarify what he said. And every time he said the same thing quite clearly. He dances like a little girl.
Everyone laughed (Mike's brother was still here visiting) and I think I have it figured out what he was talking about (last time we see Obama on tv he was on Ellen and he danced when he came out) but even that is stretching it. Sigh. Now I know how my father felt who told me when I turned 18, "I don't care what you do with your life but just do me a favor and don't vote. We would just cancel each other out."
Sigh. The reality of parenting. And a future Alex P. Keaton living under my roof.

New Career Paths

We went to National Night Out in our town and all of the local fire trucks, police cars, ambulances etc etc were set up for the kids to explore. I'm sure it's not necessary to say that JJ LOVED IT! And I liked it because I got dorky old boring mom stuff like safety stickers to put on the car seats, fingerprinting kits, babysitter info cards to list allergies, doctor's numbers etc ;)
(Can you see the evil smile on JJ's face in the last picture when he is in the back of the police car?? Oh brother...)

George Eastman House

A fun step back in time at the George Eastman House! The grounds were absolutely gorgeous--too bad it was raining most of the time!

Uncle Will!

Keeping with our visiting family members theme, Uncle Will came to visit! We were so glad Uncle Will, Aunt Dorene and Drake could come visit us all the way from California! JJ hasn't seen his uncle since we moved back from Cali so it was great for them to get reacquainted. We had a ball while they were here, we went to the local farmer's market, cooked out, visited the George Eastman House, walked along the canal in Pittsford and of course, had to partake in fine local cuisine--a Friday night fish fry!

Aunt Joan!

Aunt Joan came to the cottage for a visit! It was great to see her and have her meet Kayley. We hope to see her again in September when members of her family are competing in the triathalon in Canandaigua.

Uncle Mike!

Uncle Mike, Aunt Donna and cousins Carissa and Cara came to the cottage for a visit! It was great for Kayley to meet everyone. I wish I remembered my camera--these pictures are from my blackberry, sorry about the quality!

At the lake with Grackin

So thankfull to have Grackin and the cottage so close (about 40 minutes from our house). We visit at least once a week and we are going to stay for a long weekend next week! I can't wait to teach JJ all about bon fires on the beach, roasting marshmallows, fishing, etc etc!

(Can you tell we are still in a clothing optional stage?? groan...)

Pixs from my blackberry

Definitely not the best quality but here are some cute moments that I caught!

At the zoo w/ the cousins--can you imagine in a few years when there are five of them running around?? (and not two confined to strollers!)
Not hard to spot our kids in the red hats!
Learning to mow the lawn w/ Daddy :)
