The Airshow

Jayson and Mike went to the airshow this past weekend--looks like a new father/son tradition :) Since I don't have much interest in planes, Kayley and I went to the Canandaigua Arts Festival with my mom. The weather was gorgeous and the festival was right on the water. Definitely solidified my desire to buy a boat!

Our Week In Pictures...

Kayley sitting in her chair--not bad for a 3 1/2 mo old! Holy neck-control batman!
Kayley trying out her "Jolly Jumper"--you have to see her get bouncing and squealing in that thing!
Don da da donn!!! This is the latest superhero residing in our home :)
Jayson and Mommy planting flowers...kind of.

Things that I love right now

--Kayley still gasps when I put a new shirt on her...it never gets old, she is just so shocked that something is coming over her head and she can't see for a split second :)

--JJ is so creative; the other day he had on his father's football helmet, his pajamas and one of  his sister's playmats tucked into the collar of his shirt as a cape and claimed that he was the superhero "Blanket Batman Boy"

--No TV days--I need to do this more often...all day today JJ and I played, had reading time, cleaned together...it was so calming and peaceful!

--Relishing Kayley's milestones--she has found her feet, sleeps through the night, rolls over on her side, sleeps in her own crib...to be honest it makes me a little sad too because I'm afraid she is growing up so fast and I will never experience this again.

--Family time. Since I'm home for the summer, I love waking up every day with a blank schedule. Somedays we go down to my grandmother's cottage; she loves the company and to be truthful, so do I. Somedays we go to my dad's house to swim, somedays we get together with Lisa and Emma, somedays we go to watch Jack's soccer games, but the best part of all is sitting down together as a family for dinner. We miss out on this all year while Mike and I work different hours but for these two perfect months, we come together every night and are a normal family. I know at the time, I'm too focused on telling JJ to eat more of his vegetables or drink his milk or dealing w/ Kayley b/c she doesn't want to sit in her bouncy seat anymore but I hope I can learn to just sit back and enjoy the time that we have.

Love. It.

"I don't like my kids spending time in 2 story houses, they get all snooty and start thinking about things like college and vaccines."

Things I never thought I would say...

I just had to post some of the crazy things that I hear myself say to the kids that I NEVER in a million years thought would come out of my mouth...
Please post some of the insane things you have said to your kids so that I don't feel so alone!! I'm sure I'll update this list daily!

"Jayson stop chasing Zoe with the glue gun! Kitties don't like hot glue!"
"Popcorn kernels do not go in your ears!"
"I have told you 30 times today to get your fingers out of your nose!"
"JJ--take your clothes off before you kiss your sister!"
(Ok, that one needs a disclaimer--JJ has been 'all boy' lately and just getting dirty and disgusting and bug-covered while playing outside. So the other night, he came in from playing and was suppose to go straight up for a bath but instead went right for the baby--I was trying to get him undressed for his bath but as soon as I said it, I just started cracking up b/c it sounded so wrong...

Creative Cousins

I originally bought this tent for Kayley--to keep her bug and sun free while we are outside this summer. Little did I know how many little boys can fit inside and how many hours of creative fun it can provide!

Happy Fourth!

Like father like son... Mike and Mini-me go to the parade!
Kayley was ready for the parade in the cutest dress ever!
We had a great time at the parade and Jayson played with lots of kids from the neighborhood. Thank goodness we only live two blocks from the main street where the parade was so we could easily walk :)
We watched the fireworks from the front of our house~the town hall where they shoot off the fireworks is about 2 blocks downhill from our house so we had a perfect view of the fireworks as they came up over the trees. I froze but JJ obviously doesn't share my genes!

Kayley found her laugh!

Beach Day!

Lisa and I are both off for the summer so today started the first of one of our "summer traditions"--taking the kids to the beach once a week! JJ and Emma had a ball and thankfully Kayley slept in the shade in her baby tent all afternoon!

Happiest Baby on the Planet

Could we be more blessed???

A day in the life of JJ :)

Working on a puzzle w/ Mommy
Satisfying superhero duties by running through the house wearing only a cape made of toilet paper screaming, "Superhero To The Rescue!!" (Can you see that we are in a clothing-optional stage??)
Talking to daddy on the VP
Spending quality time with the baby

Emma's Daisies

I'm very excited about our flowers that we have around our side door--the pansies somehow sprouted from last season (who knew they were perennials??), my father bought me a gorgeous hanging basket for Mother's Day, and Emma's daisies have grown and are starting to bloom!
Two years ago (almost exactly) at Lisa's baby shower, Lauren made favors for everyone--daisy seeds planted in baby bottles. Very cute. Well, two years later they are absolutely gorgeous and are just starting to bloom! Next year they may be taller than our house!

Something Cute

Just had to share a cute toddler moment--
Jayson had a very active day today and was outside all day until he crashed around 4pm. He slept for about 2 1/2 hours so it's pretty much a guarantee that he will be awake late tonight.

Well, it's 9:45 pm and I was just trying to convince him that he wanted to go to bed and he is trying to convince me to do everything else besides sleep.
So, he is listing off things that we could do instead of go to bed like, "Let's watch The Incredibles," and "Let's go read books in Mommy's bed" etc etc and apparently JJ has found my weak spot--he knows who I'm voting for in the fall and he said in an adorable sing-song voice, "We can go watch Marack O'Mama..." Well that's the way to my heart. No bed for him!

On another fun note--JJ has become fast friends w/ the twins down the street and spends every waking minute w/ them--they are 6 and play on a hockey team and JJ seems to now be enamored w/ the sport. I don't know if I would pick hockey as the sport I would want my child to play but it's great to watch his interests develop and to see who he is and who he will become. It's just so darn  cute to watch this three year old carrying a hockey stick around and trying to score goals in driveway hockey games :)

ommmmmmm....

I saw this meditation on another blog and I just loved it--it sums up everything I should be trying to achieve everyday:

"Four Meditations"

My job is not to be perfect.
My job is to participate in the evolution of consciousness.

My job is not to provide a perfect life for my child.
My job is to support him while his own resources are awakening.

When I am strong, I contribute to the Universal Mother.
When I am weak, I call upon Her.

I have more resources than my mother; I do not judge her.
My daughter will have more resources than me; I do not judge myself.

Cooing :)

Kayley LOVES to coo and talk:)
Mike and Kayley have a special bond--they take turns "talking" to each other--she will only do this w/ her daddy!
(Just try not to have motion sickness, sorry!)

Wedding Fun

We had a great time in Pennsylvania! Both kids did great on the 6 hour drive--Kayley slept 2/3 of the way there and then was awake and content the rest of the way. The same happened on the way home. JJ played w/ his little action figures, sang songs, and watched movies. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (if you ignore the breastfeeding at the rest stop w/ people coming up to the car to see the cute baby...oy.)
JJ loved staying in the hotel--and his grandmother taught him to jump from one bed to the other...we are still trying to "unlearn" that one at home!
It was great to see so many members of Mike's family-- JJ really liked playing w/ his older cousins. And as usual, JJ was the life of the party at the reception and stayed on the dance floor the entire night! And everyone loved Kayley--she was so well behaved and never fussed or cried!

Let's Get Physical...

JJ has decided that his "swimmies" make much better leg warmers...

ONLY MY LUCK.

Ok, seriously? Sharon Stone and her crappy Karma need to leave me alone!
I got a RANDOM voice mail today on my new cell phone--some guy telling me that he saw my profile on the internet and that if I wanted to take a ride over to Niagara Falls to meet him to feel free, blah blah blah and I just about freaked.
The only thing I could think of was that I just sent my new contact info out to everyone and this was a joke being played by one of the Elmira gals. But, alas no...I was wrong...

I googled my cell number and apparently the previous owner of my number was an adult entertainment venue in Rochy. Perfect.

ARG!
If it wasn't happening to me, I would think this is hilarious.
